A BLOG ABOUT INTERNATIONAL FOOD AND TRAVEL
El Salvador
Below is a gallery of photographs from a trip I took to El Salvador.
I had the opportunity to stay at a home in the town of San Vicente. Travelling here
was quite an experience, sleeping with ants in my bed, rats on the tin roof, and
chickens roosting in the place I took my bath.
The people were very nice and prepared some delicious meals from local fresh
ingredients. I was amazed at the color and flavor of the fresh tropical fruits, including
mangos, watermelon, and coconuts. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was the sweetest
and most delicous I have ever had!
On of the most amazing places I visited was Amapulapa. It was a large swimming pool
with waterfalls that was created out of a natural stream. There were even fish living in
this pool surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.
There are beautiful country vistas inland, and beaches with big waves along the coast.
Pictured you will see the volcano of San Vicente, and Lake Apastapeque where they
raise fish in corales. The fisherman holds a net in his teeth and throws it out to
catch our dinner!!

Pupusas!! National food of El Salvador.
They are made from thick corn tortillas that are stuffed with meat, beans, or cheese.
