Simple Basmati with Peas

Made in a rice cooker, here is a simple basmati preparation to go with any Indian curry.

Ingredients:

2 cups basmati rice

1/2 cup frozen peas, boiled 5 mins

1 2" piece of cinnamon

2 cloves

4 cardamom pods

1 bay leaf

2 tsp. ghee

salt

pinch of saffron

1/2 tsp. cumin seeds

Rinse the rice and add it to a rice cooker. Add the appropriate amount

of water called for by the cooker instructions for making white rice.

Add the peas, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, bay leaf and some salt to taste.

Crumble the pinch of saffron into the cooker.

Cook the rice. When it's done, melt the ghee in a small pan and brown the

cumin seeds. Pour the ghee and seeds over the rice and fluff.

Serve.
